Transplanting Workshop

February 24 -- 1:00 p.m.
(Free for HSCS members)
Winter is a good time to transplant dormant cacti. Have you put those plants you purchased this summer into your own potting mix? Knowing what is going on under the surface is an important part of growing plants. Most of us improve our success rate by putting new plants into our own mix -- a mix where we know how fast it drains and how quickly it will dry out. If you want to learn more, then this workshop is for you.
This workshop is also an opportunity for you to improve the lives of those plants that have been sitting in the same soil for four or five (or more) years. We all have those gumption-busting plants in our collection -- plants that have been with us a long time and need nurturing. Bring those plants to this workshop!
We will also discuss how to pick the best pots for your plants from the many kinds available and talk about techniques you can use to reduce shock and encourage new growth.
HSCS will provide plastic pots, labels and soil mixes. You should bring plants from your collection to transplant, any special pots you want to use and gloves, if you normally wear them. Don't forget your enthusiasm and can-do attitude, too!
Attendance is limited. To register, e-mail Pam Schnebelen at pam@hughes.net or call 636-257-0946.
