Dorothy Weitz Remembered

Henry Shaw Cactus Society has lost a great mentor and friend. Dorothy Weitz, honorary member of HSCS, passed away on October 7, 2010, at the age of 97.
 
All members of HSCS have been touched in some way by this wonderful woman. Even if you were not fortunate enough to know her in person, if you read the Digest, you have read reprinted articles submitted by Dorothy in years past. Her knowledge of cacti and succulents was so vast, except for a name change or two, these articles still contain worthwhile information.
 
Dorothy served many terms as president of the Henry Shaw Cactus Society and contributed much more to the society and individual members in many other ways. I know her memory will live on forever in the cuttings and small offsets she so willingly supplied to the membership, and in the plants we purchased and maintain in her honor from her collection.
